Active Evolution: From Homo Sapiens to Humans

There is a movement taking place.

A shift, or process I refer to as “Active Evolution”, where Homo sapiens are becoming humans. The distinction I am going to make between the two is about much more than semantics. In regards to the paradigm I am going to try to impress upon you, these two words do not represent the same thing...

Humans are born Homo sapiens, innately impulsive and animalistic. We are not born critical, compassionate, sophisticated thinkers, and without an active shift to evolve consciously into humans, we will remain Homo sapiens. For a better understanding about the distinction between the two types of people, here are my definitions:

Homo sapiens: Passive thinking, pleasure seeking selfish creatures, having language and ability to make and use complex tools, driven by instinct and impulse, guided by the subconscious mind and basic fight or flight tendencies.

Humans: Driven by an active conscious higher level thinking and mindfulness, characterized by superior intelligence, articulate speech, guided by awareness, compassion, and connection in the pursuit of understanding, authentic happiness, and cognitive expansion.

More and more people are actively beginning to adopt a global view of humanity, a cosmic view of life. They are living their lives with awareness of both themselves and their surroundings. They are living with genuine care, consideration and concern for their neighbors and their environment. They are putting the greater good at the top of their priority list and making an effort to actively do what is best for this thing called life, for all forms, and not just for now, but for the future. They are living their lives as humans.

With this new understanding and paradigm shift pertaining to the different classes of the human race and humanity today, Homo sapiens will be viewed as, referred to as, and eventually become the new barbarians of our time. And like barbarians before us, they will either evolve, or one day eventually be extinct.

But how long will it take? and what will the cost be?
We don't need to wait. We can encourage and promote this shift, this evolution as the norm, by educating others how to live an active life and modeling it for them.

It's about effort. Consciousness is the key.
We take for granted the ability that we possess as Homo sapiens to think rationally, feel empathically, act consciously, and be self aware - all characteristics and qualities that allow us to distinguish ourselves as humans. We assume that we are all just born as inevitably sophisticated creatures, and that because we are more advanced than any other form of life in terms of technology and intelligence that we are exponentially evolved creatures. Yet the way we conduct ourselves as a species in general is anything but sophisticated or advanced.

I predict that this separation, this paradigm shift will lead to a new standard of living.
It will include the belief and understanding that the human race is the new dominant race. It will be the difference or gap between Homo sapiens and humans that will divide us and distinguish us from one another in the future, not things as simplistic as our skin color, facial features, place of origin or language. That surface level of relating to or distinguishing and discriminating differences is petty, minor and insignificant in comparison to the profound discrepancy between humans and homo sapiens.

I do not relate to the white man that murders a doctor at an abortion clinic. My black friend does not relate to the black man that murders his neighbor over a pair of shoes. My Mexican friend does not relate to the Mexican in a drug cartel who murders an innocent civilian. My friend from Pakistan does not relate to the Pakistani who murders an innocent hostage.

The extreme difference between us and them is what I speak of, something that cannot be seen as easily as a color or physical differences. It’s an evolved way of living, thinking and acting. These are the things that will divide us from here on, this is the new gap to bridge.

To bridge this gap, the emphasis needs to move towards actively living, and away from passively surviving. The media and press will continue to exploit the primal impulses and barbaric tendencies of Homo sapiens as if they are the norm and the accepted majority. But there is a change taking place that publicly is not emotionally charged with fear or anger, but that is intensely passionate, and personally way more fulfilling. To facilitate this movement we must personally embody this shift, as well as draw attention to those who are failing to do so. If not draw attention, then at least refuse to accept or tolerate passive, non-conscious behavior. You are not helping to facilitate change by making excuses for those around you to remain the same.

This is not about judging or demeaning or intentionally dividing people. It's about recognizing and addressing the divide that already separates us, so that we may actually all evolve together. You can do this in a number of ways that are supportive and educational. It’s about bringing awareness to the status quo. Awareness is always the first step and the most important one. The second step, however, is acceptance, and it is just as critical. Without acceptance you have denial, and no progress takes place when denial is a part of any equation.

I am bringing this to your awareness - the acceptance part is up to you. We cannot fix something that we do not know or accept is broken. I am telling you that the way we are looking at the human race is broken. There is an evolution taking place that demands a paradigm shift as to how we see differences in each other. The things that distinguish humans from Homo sapiens dwarf things such as race, sexual orientation, or place of origin. There are sophisticated forms of Homo sapiens across the globe from all walks of life - I call them humans. The key here is to understand that this evolution is an active process that everyone has the ability to participate in and dedicate their lives to. But not everyone will right now. However, over time, if those of us who have made that shift continue to inform, educate, and assist, as well as live our lives actively in accordance with this movement, change and progress will gain momentum.

See, all people are not created equally. We are not all born the same. Some people are born with physical disabilities, intellectual shortcomings, neurological disorders, etc.
However, we should all be cared for and treated with respect equally as lovable beings and living souls, because we all posses the ability to do so in spite of our differences.
This is just another example of an ability that we have as humans when we make an effort to consciously live an active life.

Change is coming...and 50 years from now, 100 years from now, it will no longer be class, race, religion, or gender that divides and separates people. It will be the conscious effort to actively evolve your mindset and exercise the ability that we have to think, see, and understand interaction and existence on a higher, much more universally holistic level.

The only difference between being Homo sapiens and being human lies in one simple decision - to think consciously.

Exercise your human potential...make the shift.
