There are a few truths about Self Help that I think are very important for people to know and understand before setting out on the journey or starting the process of personal growth.
The first truth is that truly embracing Self Help material involves the acknowledgment and willingness to come to terms with and admit to yourself that there are areas of your life that you should or need to improve. This alone is more than most people can do.
The second truth is that Self Help absolutely requires the acceptance of personal responsibility. You can accumulate all the information and knowledge there is about personal growth and development, but if you don’t take responsibility for applying what you know to your life, you will not make any progress at all.
And the third truth about Self Help is that the true goal of Self Help is not selfish, it is actually just the opposite. The true goal of being the best version of yourself and empowering yourself to be optimally effective is so that you can then go out and help make a positive impact in the world by contributing to the lives of others, strengthening your relationships, and helping those around you.
